Book Review: Mobile Robotics - A Practical Introduction, 2nd Edition, By Ulrich Nehmzow

چکیده

Well, this book made me reconsider. In his introductory(!) book Ulrich Nehmzow not only gives practical high-level advice on most important aspects of robot building, but also rigorously emphasizes the theme of learning as it should be done. Some of his case studies are among the most interesting work in robot learning I have yet seen. Still, most of these approaches work with little computing power and inexpensive sensors. I wish his book had been available for my diploma thesis it would have been a great inspiration!

Investigation of Robot-Environment Interaction using Chaos Theory

In collaboration with Point Loma Nazarene University at San Diego, current research at the University of Essex investigates how dynamical systems theory and chaos theory can be used to quantify robot-environment interaction. Mobile robotics research to date is still largely reliant on trial-and-error procedures, rather than exploiting established theories describing robot-environment interactio...

The Manchester Remote Mobile Robotics Laboratory

Remote access to robotics facilites allows robotics research to be conducted even if resources are not available locally. To investigate the feasibility of robotics experimentation via internet, we have conducted two independent experiments in which the Manchester mobile robot FortyTwo has been operated from a remote site, using a standard internet connection. In the rst experiment (\Channellink...
